DEM stands for Deus Ex Machina: god of the machine. A future, collapsing world set in the aftermath of anthropogenic catastrophe. Multiple stories set in different timelines, told through multiple mediums. With the ambition of expanding storytelling through illustration, poetry, music, exhibitions, video games and architecture, the project keeps asking the same question: what is humanity's destiny on Earth?

Noor and Eman are the twins behind the story. We started DEM when we were 12, as a simple story of children who wanted to see the stars by learning how to fly. Ever since, climate change, world conflicts, epidemics, and technological advances have transformed our planet, making our message more urgent than ever. Noor is in charge of the artwork while Eman writes the story.

The first publication in the graphic novel series for PROJECT DEM, Volume 0: Nephilim, is a compilation of three prologues that introduce the world and intrigue of the story.
